The story of how Noonoo Pie began …

Sometimes the small practical things like having two free hands, can make the biggest difference to your experience of bringing a baby into this world.

I have always had a passion for being a mum, but parenting does come with its challenges. I have always felt that parenting should not be rigid and babies are born instinctively wanting human contact and cuddling and so I ended up with my boys in my arms most of the time. Whether you believe in attachment parenting or not, the fact is this –  baby’s love to be cuddled and carried ! Getting simple tasks done can prove very frustrating and though I would have loved to spend the whole day on the couch enjoying my newborn, it was just not possible. I did use various carriers with my first two babies, but found that once they started gaining weight, the straps would dig into my shoulders and I would end up with a very sore back.

Then, when my youngest son was about 8 months old, friends of ours from America came to visit. They brought with them a stretch wrap and when I saw it I just knew I had to get one! I saw how comfortable it was and how revolutionary it would be to have two hands free again !

I set off to the fabric store to try and make one for myself since I had never seen such a product in South Africa although there were many such carriers in other countries. I made one for myself and even though it was completely the wrong fabric, I started using it and before long had people asking where they could buy one. That’s when I knew I had to research more to get the perfect fabric and the Noonoo Pie Tie was born !

Our vision is not only to sell the most comfortable baby carrier , but to see mums enjoy products that truly do make parenting even more precious and enjoyable. Sometimes the small practical things like having two free hands, can make the biggest difference to your experience of bringing a baby into this world.
